江戸期の「但馬考」によれば宇日・田久日・竹野浜・切浜・草飼・松本・羽入・阿金谷・須谷・芦谷・小丸・鬼神谷・轟・下塚・大谷・金原・林・防岡・森本・神原・小城・二連原・御又・河内・門谷・須谷・大森・桑野本・河南谷の２９か村を当郷とする。これは現在の竹野町のほぼ全域に及ぶ。（p895）
