郷域については、現在の中道町付近とする説（国志）、境川村石橋とする説（国史辞典）、境川村から中道町さらに豊富村に及ぶ地域を比定する説（地名辞書）などがある。おそらく境川村西部から中道町にかけてが郷域で、豊富村は沼尾郷に当たるとする通説に従ってよいと思う（p.481）
