「県史」は「大家郷はオホヤケで、諸国の例に照し、郡家の所在地と考えられる、或は後世の出水郷の地を当て、中出水の荘浦に郡山の地名がある故、其の付近とも推定されて居る」としいる。出水市荘を中心とした一帯に比定されよう。（p163）
