「日本地理志料」は「事蹟通考」により、弘生村の小合志の地（西合志町のうち）が遺称地で、「竹迫、上荘、原口、野付、御領、油古閑、上古閑諸邑」に比定しており、現在の合志町のうちを郷域とする。また「地名辞書」も「合志村」すなわち現在の合志町一帯に比定している。（p456）
