郷内には式内社御津神社があり、同社は現在御津町広石に鎮座する。地名の残存および式内社の存在から、当郷の中心は御津神社のある広石ちくとしてよいが、その北部新宮山麓には銅鐸出土地があり、前方後円墳も存在する。（p1279）
