「地名辞書」は石上神宮に備前国磐梨から石成神社を勧請したことにちなむ地名と考え、現在の天理市布留町付近に比定し、「大和志料」上は「東大寺要録」巻６に見える山辺郡石名荘と同所かとする。(p.133)
