「続風土記」は当郷を「川上荘の内及寒川山地二荘の地」というが、現在の御坊市野口・岩内・熊野・塩屋町北塩屋・塩屋町南塩屋付近に比定する説（地名辞書・地理志料）が有力である。（p163）
