氷上郡西県とし、賀茂郷と佐治郷の間に記しているので、賀茂郷の北に位置する。「丹波志」は賀茂郷を含めた15ヵ村とし、「氷上郡志」は賀茂郷を市島町内の地にあて、新たに由良郷を創出し、井中・御油・沼・小谷・鴨内・日比字の6ヵ村を郷域とした。（p186~187）
