「土佐幽考」は「石村郷の南にあり」とし、「地名辞書」は「今田村、立田村、前浜村是なり、物部郷の西に接し、海にのぞむ、田村の西界は長岡郡の地とす」とする。「日本地理志料」は「前浜、下島、上田村、下田村の四邑」と記す。現在の南国市田村を中心とする地域で、旧田村・前浜村がこれにあたるとみられる。（p634）
