郷域については「日本地理志料」は「江田、原口、白石、日平、蜻浦、用木」庭たる地域を比定している。また「地名辞書」には「今江田、花簇、小田の三村と為る、大水郷の南、菊池川の東岸とす」とあり、当郷は現菊水町西部を中心として玉名市東部に及ぶ一帯に比定される。（p208）
