江戸期の「但馬考」は、奥小野・口小野・袴座・田立・福井・島・伊豆・宮内・坪井・水上・鍛冶屋・弘原下・弘原中・弘原上・奥山の諸村を当郷とする。これは現在の出石町中央部から北部にかけての地域に当たる。（p157）
