「芸藩通志」は、「歴然として当郷の村名のこれり」とする。「地理志料」は、緑井・中須・温井・中調子・中筋の諸村に比定し、「地名辞書」は、「今緑井村存す、八木村も之に属す、若佐郷の東、漢弁郷の南にして、八木川の西岸なり、阿生山隆起して若佐郷に跨る」と記す。「県史」は、佐東町緑井をもって遺名とする。（p773）
